Installation of CyberLeader Client
At the
beginning of the installation, you will need to enter the username of the
Windows account to be created during installation. CL Client will run
only on that account.
At the end of the installation process, the setup requires entering the
following info:
1.
Server's IP Address or its Network Name. The word "Server's" implies the
computer on which CL Server is installed and running. The server's IP
address is located in the lower left-hand corner of the CL Server's
control panel.
If you would like to run CL Server and Client on the same machine, enter
'127.0.0.1' as the server's IP. In this case, CL Server and Client must be running under
different Windows accounts (only works in Windows NT/2000/XP).
Tip: You can quickly switch between Windows
accounts by pressing Windows key + L on the keyboard.
2.
Client Computer Number. This number determines the position of the current
client computer in the column 'PC' of the CL Server's main table. The row
of the table with this number will be used to control this CL Client from
CL Server.
Note: When using the Demo version, you can enter only numbers 1, 2
or 3 since only 3 clients are supported.
3.
PC Name. This name is displayed in the upper right-hand corner of CL
Client. The Computer Number is used as the default PC name. You can change
it at any time in the
"PC
groups" screen of CL Server.
After
entering all this info, click 'Connect' and
finish the installation. Then log off Windows and log on to the Windows
account where you chose CL Client to run. The first logon may be a little
slow, but after that logging in will be faster than usual.
Note: To ensure security on client computers, always specify a
password for the Windows user account that is intended for cafe's
employees to do maintenance work.
Important: If you use Windows XP on the server computer, you need to
disable the default XP firewall. To do that, in the Windows Control Panel, double click Network Connections.
Right-click the interface you use to access the LAN (e.g. "Local Area
Connection"), and then click Properties. Click Advanced tab and uncheck the firewall checkbox.
Overall, if you are running any type of firewall software, you need to allow Cyberleader to communicate through the firewall.
CL Server uses TCP/IP ports 12997 through 12999. CL Clients use TCP/IP ports
automatically assigned by Windows. |

Client's main screen
CL Client is locked between sessions. No activity can be done
until one of the following happens:
(1) an employee starts a postpaid
or prepaid session (2) a customer clicks on "Start a session"
button
(3) a customer enters a timecode
(4) a customer enters a prepaid account's login and password.
When a session is running, Cyberleader displays elapsed time (in post-paid mode) or
remaining
prepaid time and the charge for that.
Programs that customers are able to use, can be specified in the "Available
programs" screen of CL Server.
To launch programs, users can:
1. Click on icons on the desktop. We recommend adding only the most
frequently used applications to the 'Desktop Icons' category.
2. Click on folders on the desktop and then click on icons of programs that
they want to use. Every program that you would like to allow customers to
use should be included into one of these folders, which are called categories.
3. Use the Start button of the Windows taskbar to get access to all programs
that are specified in the available programs screen of CL Server. This
includes applications in 'Desktop Icons' and in all other categories. The
Start menu will only show applications specified in the Available programs
screen. |
• Starting a session
There are three
possible ways of starting a session in CL Client:
1. Postpaid session.
The user clicks on the 'Start a session' button and the session begins after
displaying a greeting message. This message can be customized in the control
panel of CL Server by clicking on "Customize start and end messages." The
same way you can customize the message that appears at the end of every
session.
Note: In case you don't want to use this feature, go to CL Server's
control panel and deselect "Show 'start session' button" under "Appearance of CL
Client."
2. Timecode.
Customers enter their timecodes to start a session. The number of remaining
minutes does not depend on the current price per hour. Timecodes are usually
the best option when public computers are not constantly monitored by staff
as in case of a hotel.
3. Prepaid Account.
A customer enters his/her login and password to start using the computer.
The account's balance will be charged for every minute
of usage depending on the current price per hour. Customers can change some settings and view account history by
clicking on 'Account info' button. |
•
Prepaid
Account history and settings
'Account info' button opens the following window: |
 |
In
the report, 'Spent' means the amount that was charged to the account.
'Specify your name' is used to specify the user's personal name. This name
is used in the message greeting the customer. 'Change password' is used to change the account's password.
You can reset a password in the "Prepaid
accounts" screen of CL Server in case a customer forgets it. |
•
Administrator's menu
When CL Client is locked, your staff
can log in by clicking on 'Admin login' in the lower left-hand corner
of the protection mask. When a session is running, right click on the
desktop to log in.
An employee will be able to log in only if he/she has appropriate
user-rights. You can specify them in the "Staff
accounts" screen of CL Server. Time of the login is recorded in
the financial report, which allows to keep track of staff activity. |
Maintenance tools can be used to do basic administration tasks like
changing display properties or installing new software.
In the 'Settings' section of this screen, you can configure automatic logon as
well as change the connection properties such as enter a new server's
IP or computer's number. |
